Cornish Pisky Charm
Like many Celtic countries Cornwall is rich in fairy lore, and Piskies are the fairy folk who feature most widely in Cornish folk tales. Pisky is the Cornish interpretation of the more widely known Pixie. Although they sometimes have a wicked sense of humour, they will help anyone who treats them with respect. Not so long ago almost every Cornish household had some kind of Pisky charm to attract the luck that the good will of the Piskies was thought to bring.
This delightful little pewter charm is based on an old charm in the Museum's collection. It has an integral loop and could be added to a charm bracelet, hung round the neck using a cord, added to a key ring etc. Approximately 2.5cm (1") tall not including loop. Made in Cornwall, specially for the Museum.
