Museum Postcards, Set of 4 Postcards
The set contains:
- Hare Nazarlik especially made for the museum by Marti Dean. From protective blue-eye beads, to spectacular wall hangings constructed of shells, mirrors and tassels, nazarlik have been averting ill-wishing and evil influences for ages, their roots extending back to the pre-Islamic, shamanistic origins of Anatolia and Central Asia. This Hare is on display in the front window of the museum.
- Original Cecil Williamson text: “An example of the west country witches beloved “Man in the Moon” wishing mirror. This mirror is of considerable age. It is steeped in spirit force, but has never worked well since its last witch owner, Mrs Goodman, of Plymouth, passed on. Moon mirrors are used and worked with the moon’s light.” This mirror is on display in the Divination section of the museum.
- Scenic view of Boscastle from the harbour
- - Hand coloured ink and pen drawing of Baphomet by Bob Richel, inspired by the The 19th-century depiction of a Sabbatic Goat, created by Éliphas Lévi. From the Richel Collection donated to the museum by Bob Richel in 2000.
